Poetry + Art = <3

I’m more than a little stunned, as well as pleased, to announce the acceptance of one of my pieces for this year’s Horror Writers Association Poetry Showcase:

The Horror Writers Association presents its ninth annual poetry showcase featuring a selection of the best original dark poetry from the past year.

I so rarely do poetry, but I submitted the piece I did because it seemed to speak to me. It’s an honor that this year’s judges agreed.

Horror Writers Association Poetry Showcase, v. IX

There’s nothing more to say, except: thank you.

Next up we have some new artwork from an old friend, Milan Jaram. He and I worked together years ago when publishing Bastion, where Milan provided the cover art. His work is absolute quality, and has appeared on the cover of Strange Horizons. In an interview with them, Milan said:

I think of it [art] like a chef who cooks. I don't make my art for myself (aside from the sense of accomplishment) but I love to hear what people say when they see it. If I made something awesome and nobody saw it, there is some kind of sadness to that. Like a chef who made his best meal but nobody was around to taste it.

Milan has graciously provided some of his recent artwork for me to show to you all. Enjoy.

How incredible is that? Thanks, Milan!
